Re: changing domain administrator password

Tech-Archive recommends: Fix windows errors by optimizing your registry

There's no way to answer you since it's up to the admin or the person who set up the program. You will need to determine (and document it) for yourself.

Go through the services on the servers and determine which ones use the id/password.

Go through any scheduled tasks on servers and see if any use the id/password.

Another thing that bit me the last time was Veritas. I had forgotten that the scheduled jobs had used the userid/password to run them.

Document all of it and then change the password. Watch things closely (event logs on servers is a good place to start) and fix/document as they pop up.....

Good luck...

Hi,

I have an Excel file with all Usernames/Passwords and exact info on
what to when a password changes. I print this file and keep the paper
in a safe place. Before I save the file I delete all passwords, so,
when you find it you have full instructions on what to do if you knew
the passwords ;)

For sure there are more sophisticated ways to do this, but I prefer the
simple one.
