First of all I misunderstood the question (I read to fast- Sorry).
For instance, you have DC1 in site 1 and DC2 in site 2, how do you set a
priority that says for site 1 people to use DC1 instead of DC2?
- Yes of course. I wasn't talking about a scenario were you only have one DC
per site, because if you only have 1 Dc per site doesn't make sense try to
control that.
- To control which server(s) the workstations should use, we create Sites
and related subnets.
- My point was, If we have more than one DC and we wanted to control which
servers would have preferential use, for instance if we have 5 DCs in 1
Site, we could control DC1, DC2 and DC3 as preferential servers for
authentication, leaving the other 2 DCs as "less" used servers.
- Anyway in this particular scenario he only have 1 DC per site, so he can
configure Site1 -> Subnet1 ; Site2 -> Subnet2, and in each workstation set
the secondary Dns Server to the Remote (the DC in the other Site) DNS
server.

The weight and priority would apply across the board unless your DNS
weren't talking to each other and you were manually setting all of the
values.
For instance, you have DC1 in site 1 and DC2 in site 2, how do you set a
priority that says for site 1 people to use DC1 instead of DC2? You don't,
priorities apply to everyone, it isn't site specific. You do site based
loading based on the records registered by default, i.e. no records for
dc2 in site 1 and no records for dc1 in site 2. Then if dc1 fails, the
client asks for any DC which would be dc2 in site2.

Hi Joe
If so, there is no preferred server setting. However, if these are truly
in separate sites and you have your topology (sites and subnets)
configured properly, this is how it should work automatically.
?? can't we use SRV priority and weigh to have a better control on this?
If my memory serves me correctly I already tried this and I have the
feeling that worked.
