Unable to bind.

I created a user called Extranet Delegate inside an OU called Delegates
inside an OU called Apps on an ADAM server. The user isn't directly
under any groups, but is a member of the "Readers" group. The problem
is I can't bind to the server using ldp or ADSIedit. ldp gives me
"Invalid credentials", while ADSIedit pops up the credentials window as
if I didn't write in the right credentials. In ldp I use a simple bind
using the whole DN ("CN=Extranet
Delegate,OU=Delegates,OU=Apps,DC=burgiss,DC=sso"). I'm copying and
pasting the exact DN from ADSIedit (connected as admin), so I know
that's right. I can follow the directions in the tutorial to create the
user Mary Baker, and following those steps all works as advertised, so
I don't know why something that deviates only slightly from the example
is totally unusable. I appreciate any insight you may have on the
matter.
