Re: policies folder in SYSVOL renamed?

how many DCs experience "the problem".? (answer this)

my first idea would to use the solution against morphed dirs as mentioned in
the KB

however, if that is not successful my second idea would be to do a
BurFlags=D4 on the PDC with all the correct SYSVOL contents and do a
BurFlags=D2 on all the other DCs within the same domain (don't just do this
as this needs planning!)

do you have any event IDs in the event log that show errors about this?

do a DCDIAG /V /C /D on one or two problem DCs

Hi Jorge
I have about 35 DC's most are in a wide area network. The renamed folder
replicates out to all of them. I discovered that the policies within the
folder had been deleted. I restored the policies so that issue has been
resolved. However the renaming continues each day and each day I rename it
back. The server I do the rename on is the FSMO. This server carries all
the
FSMO roles.

Thanks, but the article you sent me to is not quite my situation. The
article
suggests a fix if there are 2 copys of the same folder but with
different
names, I only have one copy of the folder that has had its name changed
to
policies_NTFRS_xxxxxx. As I said I have renemed it to the correct name
but
it
keeps getting renamed and the policies are not being applied and I
cannot
edit them as the gpedit says it cannot find them. Any other ideas?

Hi
I have an issue with the SYSVOL folder. Firstly the scripts folder
was
rename with something like scripts_NTFRS_xxxxxx. I renamed this back
to
scripts and all seemed fine. A few days later the policies folder
has
changed
name to policies_NTFRS_xxxxxxx (The xxxxx is a combination like
hex
digits). Now Group policies no longer work, I cannot acccess them in
the
editor as it tells me the location cannot be found. I renamed the
folder
back
but the GP editors still cannot find the policies nor do they work.
The
next
day the policies folder was renamed again to policies_NTFRS_xxxxxxx.
What is happening here? and how can I resolve the issue and get the
olicies
wotrking again. Thanks in advance guys.
