Hello,

I am trying to add a new Win2003 Server as a DC to my existing
Win2000- based domain. I have successfully completed all the steps
in Article ID : 325379 and comfirmed that it all completed. However,
when I try to add the Win2003 server as a DC it fails saying that the
forest is not prepped. This is the entire message it gives:

The operation failed because:

The Active Directory Installation Wizard cannot continue because the
forest is not prepared for installing Windows Server 2003. Use the
Adprep command-line tool to prepare both the forest and the domain.
For more information about using the Adprep, see Active Directory
Help.

"The version of the Active Directory schema of the source forest is
not compatible with the version of Active Directory on this computer."

I have tried to rerun adprep just in case but I get a message saying
it has already been completed. What am I missing here that is making
the DC join fail?

Thanks,
Micah

What wickydog is saying, is that you must run adprep /forestprep and adprep
/domainprep from the 2003 CD prior to running dcpromo on the 2003 machine.
