Sorry for the delay in responding to your response. For some reason I am
not notified when someone responds to a posting.

1rst. Thanks for the response.

2nd. Public folders were all moved. Not sure what you mean by hidden
system folders. The old server no longer exists and has been rebuilt for
another purpose. I am concerned about deleting it from AD. I've read the
article you suggested. Unless I missed something I don't think it answers my
question.

Upgraded to Exchange 2003 from Exchange 2000 several months by
installing 2003 on a new server and moving the mailboxes between the
Exchange servers. The old server has been shut down since. We are
now redeploying the old server.

When I went to delete the old 2000 server from Active Directory I
encountered the prompt "Are you sure you want to delete this
objejct?" "Mark each selected Exchange mailbox for deletion".

I'm not sure what the prompt is referring to. Read MS Tech note
261272. My most drastic fear is that somehow there is still some
link between the mailboxes moved to the new server and this server
and that I'm approving the deletion of all mailboxes.

Can you please provide an explanation?

Thanks

Did you also move all the public and hidden system folders too?
