hello herb,

when i am installaing the Exchange server 2003 it is now allowing to install
and more over it says "the user logon must have full exchange administratve
roles" but infact i am loging as an administrator only. So i want to recreate
the same domain and install the exchange server2003 on the same domain with
old usernames and passwords.

as i am having a problems with my existing active directory and now i am
planning to migrate the users and computers with the same SID's and recreate
the same domain name.

can you please help me in this.

thanks for your patience.

hello,

thanks Herb, as directed i have downloaded the ADMT v3 and trying to
explore.

my main aim is to recreating the same domain.

Why?

You still have NOT stated your REAL GOAL.

And notice it is nearly impossible to create the "Same Domain"
and do the migration.

First, it is a DIFFERENT DOMAIN by definition since it will
have a new domain SID but it is not going to be possible to
create the required TRUSTS for the migration if you use the
SAME names.

Yes, while created the domain
(DCPROMO) i will install/select the DNS.

can you please help on this.

Tell me first what you REALLY want to happen (not the
method you think will achieve your real goal.)

Hello,

Can anybody assist me as I am having a lot of problems in windows
2003
Active directory?

However I am planning to have the Action plan on migrating the
Active
directory to other SERVER BOX.

As long as you are merely changing servers this is
fairly straightforward, not QUITE trivial but close to it.

can you please tell me the whole process on how to transfer the
usernames
and computers with the same SID's to other Server.

Use ADMTv3 is you are determined to do this but this
is seldom the best choice.

What is your REAL purpose?

Once it is successfully transferred to other standby server then I
want
to
reinstall the old server and restore the same.

What I have planned is

Installing the fresh new windows 2003 in separate New Server.
Configuring the domain controller with separate NETBIOS name (assume
existing is DOMAIN A and new one will be DOMAIN B).

And different DNS names too.

Configure new server with DNS, Active Directory.

Generally the easiest way to add DNS for a NEW domain
is to let the DCPromo do it as it adds the AD itself.

Migrate the users from DOMAIN A to New DOMIAN B domain.
if this process is through with migrating the same Active Directory
Objects
with the same SID's to the New Server (DOMAIN B) then I want
reinstall
by
formatting the old one with new installations
Restoring the users from DOMAIN B to DOMAIN A.
Once it is done we will have new Server with the Old NETBOIS name on
to
the
production environment.

Please help me as I am having a very bad time.

Well, making a new domain and migrating is not that
terribly difficult but really what is your TRUE GOAL?

Most people who plan such migrations are making their
life unnecessarily complicated and difficult....
