RE: CAN'T CONNECT TO AD (VERY URGENT!!)

Tech-Archive recommends: Speed Up your PC by fixing your registry

I would also do a ipconfig /flushdns and ipconfig /registerdns

Clear your ARP cache too

If you can ping the gateway and DC, it may be your settings. Make sure your
DNS that is provided points to you primary and secondary DNS servers.

We have ruled out connectivity

Yep i can ping the server and the gateway i just can't get into active
diretcory the dhcp server is runnign and people can log into the network.
Just no shared fiel resources because it can't check their user credtinals

Check the simple things first,

Connectivity

IP Address settings

can you ping the gateway, then the DC?

I can log into the server but no remote users can acces any shared files the
reason being active diretcory when i try to open it says can't log onto
active directory.

I am a bit foggy!!!

You rebooted a machine and no THAT machine can no longer log on to the
domain? Right

No changes where made to the machine? Right

So the machine is setting at the logon window? right?

There were no config changes this happned on2 servers and one wasn't even
rebooted this morning. Would a windows update help? Or is there another way
to fix the active directory.

is it syas log or is it sys log? Have you booted from a CD to use the
recovery console (unless you have it installed already)? Did you try last
know good config? It sounds like you made some changes and rebooted after
that and have not been able to log on?
