Hello,
Can anybody assist me as I am having a lot of problems in windows 2003
Active directory?
However I am planning to have the Action plan on migrating the Active
directory to other SERVER BOX.
As long as you are merely changing servers this is
fairly straightforward, not QUITE trivial but close to it.
can you please tell me the whole process on how to transfer the usernames
and computers with the same SID's to other Server.
Use ADMTv3 is you are determined to do this but this
is seldom the best choice.
What is your REAL purpose?
Once it is successfully transferred to other standby server then I want to
reinstall the old server and restore the same.
What I have planned is
Installing the fresh new windows 2003 in separate New Server.
Configuring the domain controller with separate NETBIOS name (assume
existing is DOMAIN A and new one will be DOMAIN B).
And different DNS names too.
Configure new server with DNS, Active Directory.
Generally the easiest way to add DNS for a NEW domain
is to let the DCPromo do it as it adds the AD itself.
Migrate the users from DOMAIN A to New DOMIAN B domain.
if this process is through with migrating the same Active Directory
Objects
with the same SID's to the New Server (DOMAIN B) then I want reinstall by
formatting the old one with new installations
Restoring the users from DOMAIN B to DOMAIN A.
Once it is done we will have new Server with the Old NETBOIS name on to
the
production environment.
Please help me as I am having a very bad time.
Well, making a new domain and migrating is not that
terribly difficult but really what is your TRUE GOAL?
Most people who plan such migrations are making their
life unnecessarily complicated and difficult....
