Re: AFTER dcpromo/forceremoval

goto my blog (see below) and search for METADATA. you will find info that
helps you clean the metadata.

no restart needed on the DC where the cleanup is done

make sure you FIRST clean the metadata, let the cleanup replicate and after
that re-promote the server

It appears that I need to do a META-DATA Cleanup on the RUNNING Domain
Controller... how do I do that?

Also, how will this affect my current users? will the system have to be
restarted?

thanks..

Also.. after the metadeta cleanup.. can I try to re-add the standalone
server.. as a SECOND domain controller?

thanks.

Hello,

I have a DOMAIN CONTROLLER, that is fine.....

I have a SECONDARY SERVER that I tried to make an additional domain
controller, but, it was never really setup correctly.

I am REMOVING IT... as a Domain Controller.. and the plan was to RE-RUN
the
active directory wizard.. to try to see if it will completely share the
Active Server info correctly... this second time around...

So Far... DCPROMO was not working, it said it could not connect to the
target machine... so, I ended up doing a DCPROMO/forceremoval...

Now, the server is a standalone... BUT, when I go to the RUNNING DOMAIN
CONTROLLER.. the 'name' of the STANDALONE Server is still listed under
[Active Directory Sites and Services - servers]

QUESTION: Do I need to manually remove information on the ACTIVE DOMAIN
CONTROLLER... BEFORE I attempt to set the STANDALONE SERVER.. up as a
DOMAIN
CONTROLLER again?

thanks...
