Hi all,
I need a little help understanding something. I originally had one
server that was a Domain Controller running Win2k3 and Exchange 2003.
All my clients were part of a workgroup and did not belong to a domain
but they were able to access their Exchange accounts just fine as long
as they logged onto their computers with the same user name and
password as setup in Active Directory.
Then, I got another server and moved just my Exchange server over to
that. This was not a domain controller. I kept my old server to
continue to act as the domain controller.
When my clients tried to connect, though, they would be prompted for
their user name and password and they could only connect if they enterd
their username in the format: u...@xxxxxxxxxx or domain\user.
I then decided to make this new server a domain controller as well to
see what that would do. Once I did that my clients were able to access
the Exchange server once again without being prompted for a username
and password.
My question is why? I was hoping someone could explain to me why this
is.
Thanks for any input!
