vmware v/s virtual server

I am MCSE student. i am planning to build my own network for practice,
according to all you IT pro's, which software is more efficient and
benificial for me, VMWare server/Workstation or Microsoft Virtual
Server.

I have two computers at home, Desktop (Intel Pentiun 4 (2.4GH) with 512
MB RAM and a laptop computer Dell Inspiron 1300 (Celeron 1.4GH with
512MB Ram)

Your advice is very important to me!!
