Currently we've got 3 domain controllers in our domain. We are part of of a
forest. I need to replace our first domain controller as for it is still a
pentium 4 computer. We've purchased a dell blade server and need to replace
the DC. I just need to know what the exact procedure are to replace the DC.
Since you have more than one DC in this domain, you can simply run DCPROMO on the old one and demote it to a member server (and then remove it from the domain, if you wish to). You can then install Windows on the new server, join it to the domain and run DCPROMO on it to make it a DC in the existing domain.
You can do these two things in the order you prefer, altough if you want to give the new server the same name and/or IP address as the old one you'll of course have to demote and remove it first.
If the old server is also a DNS or DHCP server, you'll have to install and configure the service(s) on the new one. Also, remember to move any file stored on the old server, if it's used also as a file server :-)
