Yes, i share the same problem. user's loginscript network drive mapping is
extemely slow when logging. Try running dcdiag /c /v /e in support tools.
i got this:
DNS servers:
10.2.1.69 (dc1.stengg.corp.) [Valid]
10.2.1.68 (<name unavailable>) [Valid]
xx.xx.xx.68 is my fsmo holder. when i shutdown xx.69. everything become
slow. both DC is pointing to itself as primary and each other as secondary.
Alberto run the dcdaig to see u have similar problem.
Chriss3 any suggestion?

steve

Are both DCs within the same site? Do you have any errors related in the.
Event Log on the DCs? You can also install Windows Support Tools found on
your Windows CD and run the command line based tool dcdiag and review the
result for errors.

Ensure both are Global Catalog Servers as well. They are pointing to them
self as the first DNS server.

Hi,
I have two domain controllers in a Windows 2000 domain: DC1 and DC2.
DC1 is PDC and holds all the FSMO roles, it also is tha mein DNS server
(AD
integrated.) DC2 is the second domain controller. It is also a DNS
server.
I
ahve compared DNS in both DC1 and DC2 line by line and they are
identical.
Everything works well when both DC are in place but if I disconnect DC2
all
processes slow down to an unworkable pace (email, antivirus, drive
mapping,
network access) even though there is no problem loging in to the
domain.
Any ideas?

Alberto
