Sounds a lot like a RPC / DNS issue. If your still having replication issues
let me know.

3. I see all kinds of SRV records
4. Not sure what you mean. I have my corp office and remote sites under one
domain, Corp.com, is that what you are referring to?
5&6. using hardware appliances to create VPN tunnels between copr office and
remote locations.
7. PDC is Dual homed, but different subnets..this still a problem?
8. All servers are 2003, domian and forest are 2003.

I want to purge existing notifications. Replication is failing to
almost all my servers. I do not know why. I have set up the domain
(as close to their configuration as I can) as the Active Directory
Branch Office Planning and Deployment Guide calls for, but I have
replication failing for 10 of my 12 remote servers. I have checked
and rechecked sites and services, everything there appears to be
correct. I have all the sites, I have the IP's listed in the
subnets, I have Disabled Automatic Site coverage. I run DCDIAG, this
error comes up repeatedly for each different server:
[Replications Check,CEASAR] A recent replication attempt failed:
From GR14SERVER to CEASAR
Naming Context: DC=ForestDnsZones,DC=NRGOS,DC=COM
The replication generated an error (1256):

network troubleshooting, see Windows Help.
The failure occurred at 2006-01-26 10:58:15.
The last success occurred at 2006-01-14 20:01:44.
93 failures have occurred since the last success.

Any input you can provide woudl be greatly appreciated.
There are multiple reasons why replication can fail. Just "resetting" some
switch will not help. Once communication is established, replication will
take off.
The basic things I look for when replication fails are:
1. All machines not pointing to the internal DNS that hosts the AD zone
name (no ISP's).
2. Zone name doesn't allow updates.
3. SRV records missing under the zone.
4. Zone (AD domain name) is a single label name.
5. Firewall between them not allowing domain traffic (there are over 20
ports).
6. Replication will NOT work thru a NAT unless VPN'd thru it.
7. Multiple NICs on one of the machines (multihome DCs are problematic).
8. Mixed 2000/2003 environment can cause FRS Journal Wrap issues).
If you can post an ipconfig /all from both DCs, what the name of the AD
domain should be and the zone name in DNS, and any Event ID error #s from
a DC that is working and one that is not, that will surely get us on the
right track to assist.
