ehhh... like other OS'es, NT4 can be authenticated by any DC.

For password changes it will target the PDC, but if you install the
DSCLIENT it will be able to use any DC.

Do you have WINS?

If yes, check the contents of the 1Ch <domain> record. Are all DCs listed
there. if not, make sure all DCs point to the WINS server(s)

The PDCe provides backward compatibility to down-level clients and
servers allowing Windows NT4 BDC's to participate in Windows

we have a domain with two sites. On main site we have 2 Windows 2003
DCs,
DC1 and DC2. DC1 holds all FSMO roles.

Although we successfully installed additional Windows 2003 domain
controller
(DC3) on another site, it seems that local Windows NT 4.0 machines are
authenticating only on DC1, which is on company's main site. DC1 holds a
PDC
role, and unfortunatelly the role can't be transfered to DC3, since PDC
emulator role is used on main site for some kind of IP telephony.

Is it possible in any way to make those NT 4.0 machines authenticate on
DC3,
without transfering a PDC role?
