Hi Paul,
In QIP (lucents DNS product), it allows you to associate records
directly to Objects. Objects can be individual machines, or "domains".
I'm no expert on the product, so thats just what I've seen myself of it.
At the moment, these records are associated to machines, not to the
domain itself.
In practise, there should be no difference (I'm told). But now I know
about the netlogon.dns files I'll work with my DNS guys to see if I can
clear out the existing entries, and import the files.
I'll let you know how it goes.

The GUID CNAME records are very important. As are the _ldap _kerberos etc.
They're all important.
I don't know what you mean by:
...the only difference is that they seem to set the SRV records on the
domain itself, rather than the "objects" (eg swocmpq01 and 05).
For example, _ldap._tcp.sitename._sites.dc._msdcs.domain-name.com points to
the FQDN of each DC. The A record must then be resolved to an IP. (so two
lookups are made for that record).
