Another example. Like screen saver.Screen saver is checking if user is idle for some minutes. It could execute some script or program which will inform or write to the file if user is active or idle. Is there something like it?

This was debated in an earlier post and the issue here is 'what is the defintion / criteria of 'user is online' and how do you determine if users meet those criteria'..
I suggest you define the criteria and then we can try to find a solution to fit. I suspect the effort outweighs the benefit, personally.

I need software which will check who of the domain users logged in is online. The software can have client which can be started from login script. Any suggestion?
Does anybody know such software?
So far we use Skype and ICQ for this purpose but it is not good solution. The aim is that we can have in future internal web page which will be refreshed every minute and everybody i the department can see who is online.
Please help me to find the solution.
