This is usually a DNS problem, as Cary says, however I've not seen or heard
that error for a bad DNS setting. I wouldn't rule out the firewall on these
boxes just yet either - although again you usually get generic errors that
suggest the box is off.

You should also check the workstation's services, and event logs. Anything
amiss? Is the server service running?
