Thanks, Paul.
Again, we don't have WINS servers now (we had some before). After I just
disabled NetBIOS over TCP/IP (default setting with static IP address) on the
DC, my client cannot retrieval group policy and login process is really slow
(about 10 mins), SQL server doesn't work. So many problems.
Here is the result from the DC (NetBIOS name - ADC2), where did CSS <1B>
come from? CSS is our domain name.
W:\>nbtstat -r
NetBIOS Names Resolution and Registration Statistics
----------------------------------------------------
Resolved By Broadcast = 7
Resolved By Name Server = 0
Registered By Broadcast = 5
Registered By Name Server = 0
NetBIOS Names Resolved By Broadcast

CSS <1E>
Here is the result from the main DC (NetBIOS name - ADC) with DDNS.
W:\>nbtstat -r
NetBIOS Names Resolution and Registration Statistics
----------------------------------------------------
Resolved By Broadcast = 27
Resolved By Name Server = 0
Registered By Broadcast = 8

Go to your client and run a nbtstat -r and look for any errors then run a
nbtstat -RR (This should clear out the registrations and start over) on
your wins server try running nbtstat -R (This will reload your wins server
cache).
Also you can bring up your WINS server mmc console and display records and
look for the records in WINS. If there are any statically defined
addresses you should see this denoted in the display. Remove them and try
an nbtstat -RR on the client.
See if any of this helps.

Thanks, Herb. Neither of them.
It only had one networking card connecting to our domain. At the
beginning, it had another card with 192.168.0.1 connecting to a
networking drive, which was only used by the computer. I removed the
networking drive recently and disable the card. Now it only has one
active networking card.

Hi there,
What does this errir mean? CSS is our domain name, 172.17.19.85 is the
IP address of the DC's active network card, the DC has three network
card but only one is active. 172.17.19.87 is the main DC with DDNS,
secure update/stored in Active directory. Thanks.
Event Type: Error
Event Source: NetBT
Event Category: None
Event ID: 4321
Date: 2/17/2006
Time: 3:52:27 PM
User: N/A
Computer: ADC2
Description:
The name "CSS :1d" could not be registered on the Interface
with IP address 172.17.19.85. The machine with the IP address
172.17.19.87 did not allow the name to be claimed by this machine.
You have a duplicate NetBIOS name on your network.
Either you have an actual duplicate or you have connected
two NICs from a single machine into the same "broadcast
domain" (net segment/subnet.)
