Lachlan,
How are you trying to 'authorize' the new DHCP Server? Sounds like you are
going at this the correct way. Are you using an account that is a member of
the Enterprise Admins? Most likely, huh?
Are you doing it this way?
I am not familiar with doing this on anything other than a WIN2000/WIN2003
box (usually also a Domain Controller / DNS Server).

Hi,
We have a win2K server (fully updated) that is our PDC and is our
file/print/DNS/IIS server.
We also have a debian linux firewall and a different debian linux box as a
thin client and DHCP server. Plus aboput 15-20 MS workstations (2K/XP pro
mix)
SO on the weekend I reinstalled the DHCP/thin client server Linux box with
some newer OS (from K12LTSP to Debian).
Now, I cannot get the Win2K server DHCP Administration snap -in (I think
it's called that, I get there via the "Administrative Tools" in my
menu...)
to load the new debian server as the DHCP server.
Previously, the AD accepted the K12LTSP (redhat based) as a DHCP server,
but
now it will not accept the Debian box?
Does anyone know how to fix this?
I get the error
"Cannot find the DHCP Server"
I can ping both boxes from each other, I've added the new box to the Win2K
DNS snap-in, and all of my users have logged in no trouble this morning,
so
obviously DHCP is working. I just cannot get the AD to recognise the
non-Windows DHCP?
Cheers
.
