Re: How do I recreate the gpt.ini files for Server 2003 group policy?

So I had a drive crash on a test server. It was a SMART error. I
could access the files by putting the drive in another PC, but Win2k3
wouldn't load. I installed bare Win2k3 to another drive and then from
within WinXP using Drive Image transferred all but some root files off
the bad drive to the good drive. Win2k3 loads now.

However, the sysvol folder isn't complete. Looking at the source (bad)
drive, the files aren't there either.

Opening Group Policy Management gives me the following error:

Group Policy Management Error: The system cannot find the specified
path

~~
Opening the following objects give me the same error:

Default Domain Controllers Policy, Default Domain Policy and Practice
Software Deployment

=Error: The system cannot find the specified path

Oddly enough, the settings for the GPO are visable.

So, is there any way to "rebuild" the gpt.ini file? Do I have to
delete the problem GPOs and then recreate them? I do have a sub-domain
controller which didn't crash but I haven't looked at it. Is there a
way to recover the GPOs from it?

BTW: DFS is up and working. No errors. Same with DNS.

Lastly, it also appears my Global Catalog was lost too. How can I
recover that?

Thanks for the help.
