Re: Preparation to decommission original DC in Forest

I don't have that on my tip sheet but will update it in the near future.

Thanks Paul and George

Thanks for the reply. I had done everything mentioned except appoint my
new
server as the Global Cat.

Isn't there something about exporting some sort of certificate of the
Administrator account on THE ORIGINAL domain controller that established
the
Forest?

Thanks,
George

Greetings!

I have an original Windows 2000 Server that established my domain. I
recently installed a new Windows Server 2003 server and made it a DC.
I
want
to decommission my original DC (and soon redeploy it with Windows
Server
2003) but in the back of my mind there's something about exporting the
orginal Admin user certificate or some other precautionary procedure
to
take
care of on the DC that established the Forest.

Are there any precautions or tasks I must perform on my original DC
before I
run DCPromo to remove DC services decommission the thing?

Thanks,
George
