Re: Local user accounts disappear when moving member server to new domain (and forrest)

Having moved literally hundreds of servers between domains I have never seen anything happen to local accounts. Nothing should happen as nothing is done to them during a domain join or remove procedure. I would recommend going and seeing it with your own eyes. There is something they aren't telling you or something they don't understand.

Hi All,

I've got a client with an odd problem. They've got a configuration where they're moving Windows 2000 Terminal SvcsServers from one domain to another. Both the old and new domains have Windows Server 2003 systems as the DCs. They've been using local user accounts on the Win2K TS servers for the terminal services users (they're migrating over to domain users, but there are still several thousand users in all). The domains are in different forrests as well.

Once the server's been moved to the new domain, it's been found that the local accounts have disappeared. The servers being moved are member servers, not DCs, either in the old or new domains. And again, the two domains are in different forrests as well.

Has anyone seen something like this before?

Thanks,

Mark
