Very curious. Can we see your ldif file?
Are you sure nothing is touching these user objects on the other instance?
There must be some originating change there that is replicating in...
Also, when they say, "they are gone", are they deleted? I.e. do you see them
in deleted objects container with LDP (enable show deleted objects control).
