Hi!

As far as I know:

1. It take effect immediately. If you set the maximum password age to 60
days and you have users that have not changed there password for 60 days or
more, they will be prompted to so. Users thar have changed password the last
60 days or less does not have to change their passwords. If you have set
that the users to be warned, lets say 14 days before the password expire and
the password is older than 60 days that warning will not show up of course.
Some users like to think a couple of days what their next password will be.
You may also get some troble with mapped drives. Users who only lock their
computer doesn't get the change prompt, and when the network drives connect
the password is not correct and they cannot access the resource.
