And is it possible to change user logon name (user is log off and the user will log in next day after the changes) and user will log into his old profile?
I thing another method is to change user password too and log as this user to keep his resources (desktop). Is it a good idea?
Hi Kris,
I'm pretty (but not absolutely) sure the user will keep his profile, but that is easy to test for you before doing the operation ;-)
Resetting a users password is never a good idea, since you'll break his local credential cache and access to his EFS-Encrypted Files (if you don't have a PKI-Infrastructure implemented which covers that). Also all other credentials he has in his credential cache are gone after resetting the password.
As I said, I'm pretty sure they'll keep their profile (if it's a roaming profile make sure not to change the UNC-Path to the profile when changing the username).
