Hi Jonas,
You can't recover the [.dit] files from another DC. What you can do is the
following:
-Seize the FSMO roles that were on the defunct DC.

-Do a metadata cleanup to remove all instances of the old DC
http://www.microsoft.com/technet/prodtechnol/windowsserver2003/library/Operations/012793ee-5e8c-4a5c-9f66-4a486a7114fd.mspx
-Format the old DC once the above steps have been taken and re-install from
scratch.
-Do a dcpromo.exe on the newly formated server and add it as a new DC for an
existing domain
