AD sync after forced password change when offline

Hi
We have a problem with users on laptops who stay offline for lengthy periods. Due to password policy (in local AD ?) they may be forced to change their password when offline. Unfortunately that new password seems not to be synch'ed when they connect to the AD domain again.
Is there any good solutions to this ?
