Outside Domian Authentication

Hi,
We have a number of laptop users that function outside of our 2003 native
domain.
Up until now if they wanted to gain access to a file share on a domain file
server all they would have to do is authenticate with their internal domain
account. Domain\User & Password.
Now for some reason that has stopped working. No matter who you try and auth
as, it always comes up incorrect username & password even with the
administrator account.
I've tried mapping a drive with credentials and various other methods of
authenticating but nothing seems to work.
Any ideas?
Regards,
Nick
