Creating Incoming/Outgoing Trusts

Tech-Archive recommends: Speed Up your PC by fixing your registry

I have a domain here locally, and a domain elsewhere that is connected
through the WAN. I want to create a trust so that the users in my local
domain can use there logins on the other domain. However, I want to prevent
anything from the external domain from coming back to the local domain. So,
which trust configuration do I use?

I have tried a combo of incoming/outgoing on both domains, and cant get any
users to authenticate, however the trusts do validate.
