You have two main choices as I see it. You restore the crashed servers by
replacing any faulty hardware, reinstalling Windows with the same name,
booting into directory services restore mode and restoring the full backup +
system state from tape or whatever; or
You rebuild the DC as a new DC and perform a metadata cleanup of the dead DC.
Note. When doing the restore you don't promote then restore. You put as
little on there as possible, e.g. just Windows or Windows and backup
software, you then restore and SP.
