it could be that the password change hasn't replicated?
This would only be relevant if the users PC and the Exchange servers are
using differrent DCs, AND one or other of the DCs is set to not use the PDCE
to check for changed passwords.
Although the default behaviour is for DCs to forward any password changes to
the PDCE, and to check the PDCE for changed passwords in the event of a logon
failure, both of these are over-ridden if the value
hklm\system\currentcontrolset\services\ntelogon\parameters\avoidpdconwan is
set to 1 (as per some templates).
Otherwise, if the password was reset after logon, then the OS may be trying
to pass the logon credentials (i.e. old password) to the Exchange server, but
I'm not entirely sure how the mechanism works.
