Fully deleting a subdomain

I was testing some different Active Directory domain configurations. First, I made a sub domain which worked fine and then I removed the AD from the DC for the sub domain and then deleted the sub domain from the parent domain (I believe I used the AD Users and Computers utility). Then, I setup the server to host a completely new domain so that I could create a forest. It appeared to go fine but I am having some problems when trying to manage the new domain from the original domain. I was looking at the AD Sites and Services Utility and noticed that on the property page for the server that was the DC for the sub domain (and is now the DC for the new domain) it still has the sub domain in Domain text box of the Computer section of the Server tab. Apparently I didn't delete the old subdomain properly so now the DC for the original doamin isn't communicating with the new domain properly. What do I need to do to get this info deleted from the original doamin? BTW, verifying the trusts using the Active Directory Domains and Trusts utility doesn't fix the problem (I get an error when I do it from the DC on the original domain).

Thanks.
