Hello everyone!!

Application version: Microsoft Windows 2000 5.00.2195 Service Pack 4

I am running a Windows 2000 Server (with Active Directory installed) machine
with 5 workstations. The

workstations are running Windows XP.

The user accounts are located under the <Users> container. I noticed that
the Roaming profiles were not working

properly. For example files that were saved in workstation A would not
appear in workstation B for any user. I

further explored the problem and found that there was a group policy
implemented at the Domain Level.

SCHOOL DOMAIN (This is where the Default Domain Group Policy was impleted)
...
..
-> Users (This is where the user accounts are located)

I decided to implement File Redirection on this GPO (Default Domain Group
Policy). After performing this, I

noticed the following:
a.- When login in and login out, a window indicating that Synchronization is
taking effect appears.
b.- The icons on the Desktop of the user have a double arrow indicating
synchronization

The problems that appeared were the following:
c.- Whenever a user deletes an icon on his Desktop, the icon would
disappear, but later when the same user

logged in to his account, in a different station or the same one, the icons
would reappear. A similar problem

is found with the files in the My Documents folder.

Since the above problems were happening, I decided to remove, and unlink the
policy at the domain level. After

doing that, the problems did not go away. The same problems (a,b,c) were
happening. I ran gpresult.exe in some of the accounts and I can see that no
GPOs are being applied. It almost seems that the GPO did not get unlinked.

Can anyone please tell me how would one go about fixing this problem?? or
Has anyone ever encountered this type of problem??? If so, how did it get
fixed??

Thank you very much.

Sincerely.
sorbec
