I have a somewhat similar situation. We have XP Professional users (SP1 +
all patches except SP2). The user is doing a domain logon onto the
workstation. They get the expected prompt "Your password will expire...".
They then select "Yes: and enter the new password twice. The system comes
back and says that they are not permitted to do this.

If, however, they say "No" to the first prompt and access a TS sever (we use
Citrix), they get the password prompt and this time it takes. The next time
that they log onto the workstation, they can use the new password with no
problems...

They are "Users" on the workstation. What could be causing this problem? It
smells like a GPO problem.....
