Do you mean you turned off the DC acting as the PDCe and simply now use your
other DC? Or have you somehow configured another DC to become a new DC? If
the latter, you've probably got a new domain with the same name as your old
domain -not good I'm afraid; not much you can do.

If the profiles were physically stored on the old DC, then you won't be able
to access them if it's offline. You'll need to bring it online or restore
those profiles from tape.

This sounds like you've built a new domain.

Let's get some terminology straight, so we can better understand your
predicament and help you:

There's no longer PDCs and BDCs. All DCs are writeable and almost all are
equal. There is a PDCe -e for emulator for backward compatibility and a
bunch of things that AD needs there to be a single-master role for. There
are other roles too. Have a look at this to get you started (it needs
updating, but has some good links and does explain the basics):

If your domain crashes, dies, has problems and you turn it off, etc. and
then build a new domain with the same name this isn't the same domain. The
AD works with GUIDs and SIDs. The names are for us. You can have hundreds
of (isolated) domains with the same name -it doesn't mean they're the same.

Is this what's happened? Or have you simply reverted to another DC? If
you've reverted to another DC, we're in business. You can transfer the OM
roles, DNS, etc. clean up the old DC and get back online quite sharpish.

Let us know what's happened and we'll help as best we can.

All the best.

Hi everybody ...
I have w2k3 domain with rooming profiles and my active directory was
corrupted.
I did change my PDC for my BDC because i don´t had a recent backup of my
system states.
Now , when i create any count the users can`t entablish a sesion on the old
PDC where the profiles are keeped and they can't grant access to any
resource on this server .
I loose the relationship with others domains etc... .
Please ....
        Can somebody help me ĦĦĦ
