Art,

Your methodology is fine. That is one way to do it. Here are the links
that will help you. You need to plan your environment and transition
carefully ahead of time and test before migrating to ensure a smooth
transition (and make sure your DNS is absolutely SOLID before you bring up
even your first DC).
