Can't find DC after running DCPROMO

I have a windows 2000 server with two NIC's. It is the only DC in the
domain, at least I thought it was. Netdiag and dcdiag disagree. Netdiag
failed the DC discovery test and dcdiag failed the FSMO check. I've gone
through KB after KB, demoted and repromoted the server a dozen times, and
googled half the internet with no joy. This problem is preventing me from
connecting workstations and creating a trust with an NT domain so that I can
migrate some accounts. 'TDMS.org' is in the DNS forward lookup zone with the
appropriate subfolders and is updateable. The "." forward lookup zone was
removed. Any help would be appreciated. If you need more info, let me know.
