After follingaround trying to create a partition using ldp.exe and/or the
MMC, I ended up:

1. re-running the ADAM setup to create a new instance2 using
DC=fabrikam,DC=com on port 50000
2. re-running the DSFW setup to create a new virtual server (dsml2) on the
default web site. Edited the dsfwv2.config file to change the port for
dsml2 to port 50000
3. re-boot

This is on a Windows XP SP1 machine.

Cheers,
Michael.
