Hi group,
hope someone can help with this issue.
We have just upgraded our domain from NT4 to W2K3 AD and are having problems
with some Windows XP sp1 clients and users unable to logon with the 'user
principal names' that have been setup for them.
Users can login successfully with their SAM account details, but not with
UPN details. UPN prefixes have been setup on the domain, and the users have
been assigned a default UPN in their account details page in AD users and
computers.
When the default %logonserver% variable was checked on the workstations the
WinXP clients are still authenticating with one of our NT4 BDC's, my
assumption was that all W2K and XP clients hunted out a 2003 DC to logon to
rather than using NT4 BDC's for authentication. I've a feeling this is the
cause of the problem, but don't know how to force the XP clients to
authenticate with our 2003 DC's.
Global catalogues are available and can be queried successfully. The 2003
DC's are on a different subnet to the XP clients, but the IP infrastructure
if fully operational and passing all network traffic, I.e. no firewalls to
go through.
Any help or thoughts would be appreciated, as this one's got me a bit
stumped.
TIA...Robert...
