When you removed the other DCs, did you run dcpromo again to perform a
demotion or did you simply format them and reinstall something else??

To replace a single domain's DC you have to transfer the 5 FSMO roles to
another DC. You also need to grant the new DC the role of GC and setup DNS
on that server.

The following links may help you (they also provide other links to MS docs):
-- http://www.msresource.net/kb/replaceSingleDC.html (how to do what you
want)
-- http://www.msresource.net/kb/fsmoroles.html (an explanation of the FSMO
roles)
-- http://www.msresource.net/kb/moveFSMOroles.html (how to move the FSMO
roles)
 -- http://www.msresource.net/kb/ConfigureGC.html (how to configure a Global
Catalog)

Hi Tim,
Thank you for your help. Yeah, there are some errors, I know the reason, but
don't know how to correct the errors. I have to tell the story from the
beginning. I set up the domain last year, and we needed a better computer as
our domain server this year. So I added some DCs in the domain in order to
keep our accounts, later I set up this DC (the only DC in my domain now),
and I shut down other DCs. I did make this DC as global DC. Now the problem
should be "CANNOT FIND THE PRIMARY DOMAIN CONTROLLER", what should I do? How
can I make it as primary DC? Is there still the concept of PDC in windows
2003? Attach the error message from "DCDIAG /V"
