Hello Peter,
You are not stupid you can't edit multiple objects at once in Active
Directory Users and Computers by default. How ever you can update the
adminpack.msi it includes a version of Active Directory Users and Computers
that supports editing multiple objects.
The Windows Server 2003 Administration Tools Pack (adminpak.msi) provides
server management tools that allow administrators to remotely manage Windows
2000 Servers & Windows Server 2003 family servers

(This version have to be installed on Windows XP or Windows Server 2003, but
can handle Windows 2000 Domain as well 2003 Domains.)
