REMOVAL OF ACTIVE DIRECTORY IN SERVER 2000

I am not able to remove one of my additinal domain
controller in my microsoft network.I had recently promoted
this domain controller for some other reason.when i run
dcpromo and trying to demote it gives me the error

The directory service failed to replicate off changes made
locally.

The dsa operation is unable to proceed beacuse of a dns
lookup failure.

How ever nslookup gives me the right name while lookup
and dns is okay.
During the process of promotion of server i had changed
the name of the server.Now i am able to ping the both
names to same ip address.NOW WHEN I AM TRYING THE
REPLICATION NOW OPTION FROM SITES AND SERVICES IT IS
GIVING ME ERROR THE NAMING CONTEXT IS IN THE PROCESS OF
REMOVE OR IS NOT REPLICATED FROM THE SPECIFIED SERVER
