An updated version exists, but you will have to call Microsoft to get it:
Availability of the Directory Services Client Update for Windows 95 and
Windows 98
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;323466
As the article states, you need to call Microsoft Product Support Services to
obtain it (outside the US, customers should contact their local Microsoft
subsidiary.). The support call will be be free as long as you refer to the
Knowledge Base Article number (Q323466) and ask for nothing more.
