And AFAIK, no flavor of Linux has "Native" DVD capabilities either, you would need to install a Linux DVD player (just as you would in Windows XP). Some Linux package may include a DVD player as part of a bonus package, but that is not part of the base OS.

You are very confused, Vista was the first OS with a DVD decoder built-in natively..

I don't recall that being a problem for anyone.
It was for awhile. Worse yet, as M$ patched and caught up, grief with conflicting drivers and a 1/2 assed approach. When they did that I took the time to learn Linux method of burning DVDs and still burn them this way today.
