RE: Installing Windows XP on an Intel Mac

Tech-Archive recommends: Repair Windows Errors & Optimize Windows Performance

Forgot to mention - I'm using a fully-legal registered paid-for version of
Microsoft XP, Service Pack2.

OK.

The first time I did boot camp, I had to delete the partition & start over.
However, could we look at some basics?

1. Are you up to date on all OS X updates? What version OS X is on the iMac,
how much RAM & HDD space is available?

2. You are using an original MS XP full version install CD, SP2 or later?

3. What size partition did you select for the HDD?

Yes - Boot Camp. When I restart manually, I get the two icons. When I select
Windows, I get a message that the computer must repair itself. After it does
this, the startup goes ahead, and I'm back where I started - no drivers.

I just completed that process, using both the MAC Boot Camp method and
"Parallels Desktop" 4.0. Your description sounds like Boot Camp, is that
correct?

What happens when you restart manually; do you get the HD icons that allow
you to choose MAC or Windows?

I've partitioned my hard drive, and installed Windows XP; however, somehow
the drivers weren't installed. I've started the computer up in Windows, and
inserted the Mac disk which contains the drivers. The driver installation
starts up, and gets part of the way through...but then a lengthy message
comes up, starting with the words 'An error occurred" - but doesn't stay open
long enough to read. At this point, the computer restarts (in Mac). Any ideas
for getting the drivers installed so I can use Windows? I realize this may be
unknown territory for most Intel people, but any help would be appreciated.
