RE: Can't boot into Wndows XP

Tech-Archive recommends: Repair Windows Errors & Optimize Windows Performance

I was having same problem, but wanted to knowthis.
My system boots only in safe not regular.
I got a new installation (something like windows.01 directory). It boots
fine there, but my programs are gone, shortcuts, etc. Are you saying I can
copy my info to the "new" installation? So that I do not have to install
everything over?

Thanks!

Without gettinga lot more information about the environment it would be
difficult to suggest anything other than getting a parallel installation of
OS in place. You can get that up and running and then once your system boots
up, copy the data from the previous profile.

One suggestion I give to everyone - Please keep your copy of antivirus
updated all the time, just having an antivirus alone does not help, you need
to keep it updated. Before installing anything, accepting prompts from
websites without reading them fully must be avoided. Also it is a good idea
to keep the browser seceurity settings enabled is a good idea, always keep
the protected mode enabled, phishing filters enabled and browser security
settings high.

Thanks Gurpreet Slingh

I try autorun and disable anything that had the manufacturer column empty. I
also didn't do anything with the drivers tab.

I did notice one of the line in autorun did list the following

regrun partizan - bootwatch antirootkit. greatis software

Which was the blue screen the computer would stop on . I did disable this
line and when I reboot the computer now the computer stops on a black screen,
and just stays that way.

I also disable everything in the msconfig under the services tab and I still
stop on a black screen.

Do you have any other ideas?

Thanks Curious

I can do an F8 and I can get into safe mode

Thanks Hemanth

I do have an anti-virus it is Norton 360

I also try to do a system restore but it won't let me do it from safe mode.

Any other Ideas?

Thanks everyone for your help!

Hi I can't boot into Windows XP.

When I try to boot into windows, I get the following blue screen.

regrun partizan - bootwatch antirootkit. greatis software (c) 2007-2008.

at this point the computer just stops.

I think, I might have a virus but not sure.

I can boot into safe mode but I don't know how to fix it in safe mode.

I hope someone can help!
