Hey all, I have an HP Pavillion machine running Windows XP Media Center
Edition SP2. (Desktop, Version 2002, 2GB RAM) Whenever I start Media Center,
a dialog box pops up and says
"
MESSENGER FAILIURE
Media Center was unable to open Messenger. Please make sure that Windows
Messenger is installed on your system.
(OK)
"
I'd like to know what exactly is the problem, because Windows XP comes with
Windows Messenger and it was working fine at first. It might have been
Windows Live Messenger, I installed it, Media Center worked fine, then
restarted and it suddenly started displaying that message.
Windows Live Messenger is working fine.
Any ideas what else might be causing this problem?
Thanks in advance.
Also I'm not upgrading to SP3, I did that once and Media Center TV, Media
Center Radio, Movie Maker, and my Wi-Fi all stopped working, not to mention
Windows Messenger for Media Center. I was unable to roll back, and
reformatted my computer a while later.
Thanks again!
