thanks, this helped me to understand. Ok so when it last said to
update I said no and it hasn't come up again. So please tell me where
where I go to re-instate the correct update for my computer, and
perhaps the site to learn about it. Sorry I put it in the wrong
section before but I didn't know what it was and am making an effort
to get to know all these things on my computer, for which is the right
section. Thanks for the advices.

You should have Java in the Control Panel if it's installed. One of the
tabs will be Update.

Info on Java <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Java_(programming_language)>

I have Java installed and I don't see anything about Java in the Control
Panel (including Classic view)...except for uninstall.

That would be in add/remove programs. There should be a seperate control
panel applet for Java. You can get the latest Java here:

http://java.sun.com/javase/downloads/?intcmp=1281

You want the JRE 6 Update 13.
